Nursing Assistant Program

Nursing assistantsWould you like to enter the heath care job market? Nursing Assistants are vital members of the health care team. This two-semester course includes:

  • Nursing Assistant Skills
  • Basic Anatomy and Physiology and Infection Control
  • Emphasis on communication, professionalism and compassion
  • Preparation for state Nursing Assistant Certification Exam

There will be two Nursing Assistant classes for the 2018-2019 school year. The course length is for a full year. The courses will be held either:

  • Wednesday and Friday 7:25am-9:55 a.m. for the full year
  • Tuesday and Thursday  7:25 am -9:55 am for the full year
  • Some alternate days, evenings and weekends may be required for clinicals.

There is a $40.00 lab fee and the student will be required to purchase a uniform for labs and clinical rotations. The student will also be required to have the following:

  • Reliable transportation to clinical sites
  • A medical release stating the student is able to perform the Essential Functions
  • Negative TB test
  • Updated immunizations including the influenza vaccine
  • CPR certification

Prerequisites:

  • Must be a Senior in High School
  • 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • 1 year of Biology with a minimum grade of a "C" for each semester

A letter of interest must be included with the application or emailed to whitney_k@aps.edu by March 2018
